 Allah has created the testing in the life of this world in such a way that only those servants who use their reason can be happy. At the essence of this test is a very simple, very comprehensible, easily solved and easily renewable system. But those who do not look with the eye described by Allah in the Qur’an, who do not use the information provided in the Qur’an, cannot see this simplicity concealed within the test. They thus spend much of their lives in a very troubled manner; lifeless, weary and unhappy. Whenever these people encounter any difficulty they regard it as terribly complex and insoluble. That perspective literally becomes a reflex. They almost never even consider acting in the light of any other perspective in the face of difficulties.
The fact is, however, that there is no room in the life of anyone who looks at the test in the life of this world in terms of the perspective revealed in the Qur’an for confusion and insolubility, or for them to be negatively affected by difficulties and troubles. There are absolutely certain truths that anyone who believes in Allah will also believe in. This information enable a believer to take decisions compatible with the moral values of the Qur’an by employing his conscience. The Qur’anic truths in which a person believes therefore impact on that person’s life at every moment. When confronted by an obstacle or difficulty, since a person lives by the moral values taught by the Qur’an, even the most difficult tests in this world, the most wide-ranging and difficult-seeming problems become simple and easily resolved. Events that cause great unhappiness, sorrow, regret and distress to people who do not look with the eye of faith actually bestow peace, joy and happiness on believers, since they employ that perspective.
As stated above, what produces such different conclusions in believers compared to non-believers, is that believers have a good knowledge of and belief in the truths of the Qur’an. These truths of faith are that they know that;
* Allah is omniscient,
• Allah is infinitely just,
• Allah creates everything that happens on earth, great or small,
• Allah is infinitely compassionate, loving and forgiving,
• Allah responds to all prayers in the best possible manner,
• Allah will send divine aid to His servants in difficulty and trouble,
• That submitting to our Lord, with His infinite knowledge, reason, justice, mercy and love, is a great source of ease,
• That people live their destinies, and that even if they come to earth thousands of times they will still live the same immutable destiny, and that destiny is created in the most perfect form for them,
• None of the entities people see around them have any independent power; that every entity behaves as Allah ordains and speaks the words Allah commands,
• Allah creates goodness and wisdom for believers in all events,
• Good and evil come from Allah alone; people have no power of their own to prevent harm or bring about good,
• That people have therefore no right to be angry with themselves; that they are weak and helpless entities who live their own destinies; that they have no power to do anything unless Allah so wishes,
• Placing one’s trust in Allah and seeing goodness and wisdom in all things is an obligation in the eyes of the Qur’an,
• In the same way, there is no room in the moral values of the Qur’an for unhappiness, pessimism or sorrow,
• That troubles and difficulties are a great blessing in terms of earning merit in the Hereafter, and that displaying the proper fortitude in the face of them is a sign of true faith,
• That it is revealed in the Qur’an that believers will be tested with very harsh circumstances, for which reason the troubles one faces are a manifestation of those verses,
• Earthly desires are people’s enemies, and that waging a struggle of faith against them and overcoming their evils because of love of Allah will attract the finest reward in Allah’s sight,
• Satan has declared war on man, that he uses events that go against earthly desires to cause believers to deviate, and that it is not Muslim behavior to heed his whisperings and adopt his moral values,
• Troubles, difficulties and events that go against earthly desires are a valuable opportunity for believers to demonstrate their love, respect, loyalty and devotion to Allah,
• Allah’s approval is above all the blessings of this world, and that He will give believers joy, peace and happiness incomparable greater than any blessing in this world.
 Even if everyone in the world is on his side and if everything is turning out as he wishes, a person can still not know a moment’s peace or happiness if – Allah forbid – Allah is displeased with him. But if he displays the kind of moral values he hopes Allah will find pleasing, if he exhibits a proper fortitude and submission to and trust in Allah in the face of difficulties and troubles, then he will still enjoy the kind of joy, peace and happiness he has never known before, even if no other people are content with him. The signs that someone lives by such moral values can be seen in him both physically and psychologically. The most important of these signs are as follows:
• He radiates the joy and light of faith.
• He displays the same rational, mature, moderate, joyful and balanced behavior in the face of blessings and of difficulties.
• No imperfection ever manifests itself in his words or logical framework. He never uses language incompatible with the moral values of the Qur’an, or with faith and submission to Allah. He never uses words suggestive of hopelessness, despair or helplessness, which also have no place in the Qur’an.
• He always behaves favorably to Allah, faith and the moral values of the Qur’an. His moral values always indicate that he trusts in Allah, is fully aware of destiny and that there is goodness and wisdom in everything that happens, and that all people and events are under the control of Allah and that Allah will always help true believers.
• He is aware of the transitory nature of the life of this world and that believers’ true, eternal life will be in the Hereafter. He never therefore worries about material or other losses in this world. He never forgets that all these losses will bring him gains in the Hereafter. He therefore regards all troubles and difficulties visited on his life or possessions as blessings.
• No matter what his losses or troubles, he still maintains a joy and optimism of winning the approval, love and friendship of Allah, which is far greater than all the blessings of this world.
• Everyone who knows that all things are for the best, who knows that problems and troubles come from Allah and who welcomes them with joy will always be full of love for his surroundings. Since nothing ever impairs a believer’s moderation, joy and equilibrium, he still treats people who make difficulties for him, behave badly and display poor moral values with a very superior and profound love. He never departs from the moral values of the Qur’an by becoming caught up in anger with such people. He knows that Allah creates the mistakes that people make and that He also creates these for the best. No defects can ever be seen, therefore, in his attitude toward other people. On the contrary, because of his powerful faith he is always affectionate, compassionate, forgiving and full of love in his dealings with others. Jun 03, 2009
